After a career in organizational and program leadership, Heather began working in the wellness field over 15 years ago as a mid-life career change, and is in her 3rd year as a formally credentialed psychotherapist. She is also a part-time professor in counselling psychology. She holds an MA in Counselling Psychology, a PhD on psycho-emotional resilience and outdoor recreation, a graduate Diploma in spiritual care and psychotherapy, and three other degrees. She has worked in mental health in hospitals, community agencies, employee assistance, and private practice.
Her additional professional training in psychotherapy includes: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Existential/Meaning Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, nature/animal assisted work, trauma informed, solution-focused, and psycho-spiritual approaches.
Whatever your challenge, Heather collaborates with you using approaches most suited to your needs.
She has worked with adults of all ages, youth, families, clients with disability and neurodiversity, athletes, and hospital patients with a diversity of challenges. Heather is a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is also a counsellor member of CASC, a national association for counsellors.
Move Your Mind is physically based in the Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) area. Geography doesn't need to limit you. Most coaching, counselling, facilitation and speaking services can be accessed online. This website is in English. Heather is also fluent in French, with some understanding of Spanish and German.

She works primarily with teens to senior aged adults. She specializes in aging, addiction, lifestyle change, acute or chronic psychiatric, mental and other health issues, assisting these patients navigate health support.
