Move Your Mind services are faith and soul-friendly. Your spirituality may be religious, non-religious spiritual, or neither. Spirituality in the bigger sense is about 'the bigger picture', your core values, purpose, and often, cultural identity. In this sense, everyone has a cultural and spiritual part of their being. Whether you are religious, spiritual, or atheist, your values and existential sense of self affect your psychological and physical wellbeing. Whatever your experience of the 'bigger picture' or the spiritual is, you shouldn't have to check such an important aspect of yourself at the therapist's door.
Move Your Mind counsellors practice Christian and Jewish traditions, but are also trained to respect and support your tradition or spiritual perspective. This approach recognizes that even if you belong to a specific tradition, you are an individual with your own unique interpretation and understanding. We are trained to recognize and welcome your faith and spirituality as important parts of your whole, authentic self. Be yourself. Your spiritual self is welcome. You can ask specifically for support based on Jewish or Christian spiritual practice. However, whether you share the counsellor's faith or not, your unique spiritual perspective is a respected and a welcome part of your sessions and your healing journey, to whatever degree works for you.
